Rev. Cindy Buhman was appointed to the Clair and Ebenezer UMCs beginning July 1, 2018. She comes to this new chapter in ministry with pastoral experience at the Winston, Stanberry, Ashland associate, Bethany, and Savannah UMCs and has spent the past three years as the superintendent of the Northwest District of the Missouri Conference. Cindy earned her Master of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in 2000 and was ordained an elder by Bishop Ann Sherer in 2003.
Cindy is a DeKalb Co. native, growing up south of Maysville on the farm where her mother, Noma Vaughn still resides. Cindy is a graduate of Maysville High School and earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. She and Joe Buhman of Clarksdale were married in 1977 and built a home just south of Stewartsville in 1980. They have three sons: Lucas, Mitchell and Ethan. All three are married. Lucas and Rebecca (Griffin) live in Kansas City with their three boys, Kaden, Xander and Trey. Mitchell and Laura (Windsor) live in Kearney with their boys, Grant and Owen. Ethan and Kelsey (Perks) live in Gower with their two four-legged babies, Sadie and Otis! After 44 ½ years of walking in the same door at Shamrad Metal Fabricators, Joe retired at the end of September! Now, he is figuring out what it means to be retired!
Relationship is key for Cindy in everything from theology to everyday conversations. Her number one strength on StrengthsFinder is positivity. And she is known for being a talent scout, coach and cheerleader as she interacts with congregations she serves. And, we mustn’t forget the Woo Hoo!
Pastor Cindy says she is so excited to be serving the congregations of Clair and Ebenezer UMCs and looks forward to what God has in store. Cindy’s constant prayer is that God would let us be a part of what God wants to bless.
